Overview
Come back later, still working on this...
Lore
and a harbor for every ship.
With every 2 bells, the port may change,
but every harbor is a slice of home.
- Anonymous
Somewhere within the pages of history, someone lost a few pages... Sometimes, it was intentional, to wipe away a stain from what should be a shining legacy or to forget a time when we were young and forgot our virtues. Othertimes, they were lost unintentionally. Forgotten by the wayside as the drum of progress drives both the rich and poor alike.
What many didn't realize is that those lost pages, well, they never really stay lost. They all gather together in the remote corners of the room and form new histories. New stories that, regardless of how weary and torn they become, they still come together for that last hurrah when the prince saves the damsel in distress or when the knight lops off the head of that evil force.
Knowing that their hurrah had not yet come, they banded together to form a new existance in the far west. Far from the lights and sounds of the other new provinces, they found another lost soul. A dragon, by the name of KhalÆophi. Remembering the cliffs they all once called home, they settled on the edge of the world. KhalÆophi settled near the heart of the new port and became it's keeper and namesake.
Thus, the tale of Calliope Pointe began...

Portside Shops
Looking to add a new branch to your business? Searching for a new place to expand to? Well, today's your lucky day. The port authorities have green-lit the reclamation and usage of some prime port real estate. We have 3 wet-dock floatillas moored and ready to accept your new venture.
Each is marked with a sign stating how many shops should be atop. Depeding on how the docks are being used and how well the space is being used, there may be an additional platform or two in the near future added to the area.
Travel
I'm going to start a list here of some transit options to get out here quicker/easier.
Metro Vox + VoxelPort
Much thanks to Gab0607 and Gecko for this one, We've now got a connection to Arpedua. This trek originally was mostly the same as the Metro Vox + Flight path, however, since the original posting of this travel method, it's become quite a bit shorter and gained another voxelport.
The newest and shortest method goes as follows. In Trade Cities, go to the western edge of town where there is a balloon moored to a few plateaus. This leads to Rosetta. At Rosetta, grab a ride on the B-Line southbound to Arpedua. Once you get there, get on over to the south side of town where the docks are located and ride the ship the Orion to Calliope Pointe.
As it stands, given Arpedua's extremely close proximity to Trade Cities, the cut out of a 2-3k block distance flight, and the dual voxelports, this is by far the fastest possible way to get to Calliope Pointe.
Metro Vox
With the advent of the quite expansive Metrovox Network working it's way across TWW, it was only a matter of time before we got a connection. This transit route is by no means the fastest method to get out here, but it is quite scenic and can be a good experience at least once or twice to go down to get a feel for the layout of map.
- The New Trade Cities (Southbound) to Virenze
- The southbound line makes 1 stop before getting to Virenze at Five Fingers Park.
- Virenze A-Line (Westbound) to Cheasapeak
- This westbound ride will stop at several towns along the way, these towns, in order of transit, are Snow Snowy, Arcade Canyon, Rosetta, and Solac. There may be future towns and stations added to the route in the future between Rosetta and Solac.
- Cheasapeak H-Line (Northbound) to Fheodogir
- There will be one stop along the way at Xa'coasta.
- Fheodogir N-Line (Westbound) to Calliope Pointe
- The platform for the N line is slightly hidden, there are some stairs that head down near the H-Line Platform. Those stairs lead to the N-Line Platform. There will in the future be one stop between Calliope and Fheodogir at Castrum Stellarum. That station has not been created yet, but should be connected soon enough.
If you wish to know more about the rail lines, or have a town that might be in need of a connection, consider taking a look at the Wild West MetroVox page. They have alot of information on there about the existing lines and a few plans for new lines that are being worked on. Keep an eye on that page for potential future updates to the tracks that might take time to be propagated here.
Flight Alone
By far the most direct path, but also, one of the longest ones. It is by no means hard, just tedious to fly a little over 10-12 thousand blocks in one direction for about 15-20 minutes.

Construction Journal
First Entry, Founding Day, New Location.
Just claimed the area and working on getting a few things laid out and typed out before full on construction begins. A plan is in place and nearly together, just need to get some details finalized.
Ran into a hitch with the original location (X: -5614 Z: 4038) due to relative proximity to another town (Rockport), but a new location has been found that shouldn't be near any prior claims.
Update Jan 8th 2012 3:57PM EST
Figured I'd use this area to post semi-regular updates when work has been done, kinda like a build journal.
KhalÆophi, one of the main key features of this town has been started, though I may stop using snow as the initial material for it... quite messy to paint over later without it showing through... Lesson learned so to speak.
Also, found out I do have a nearby neighbor. Would have noticed it earlier, but the wiki page for it was mismarked and I didn't see the coordinates when I laid the new claim down (People, for the love of GOD, ADD THAT "Wild West Towns" CATEGORY TAG, It really helps locate your town and your land claim on the wiki), but, because the more appealing side of the area is much further south, we shouldn't anywhere near sight range of each other. At least not outright sight anyway. Not quite one full horizon away, but not visible to each other either.
That would be all for now in this update.
Update 19:40, 14 January 2012 (CST)
Been working on all over the place on a few various ideas and project. As a sign of some success, I've done a bit more work on KhalÆophi and gotten an agreement with Pcisbetter to get a shared metrovox station set up between our towns. On the plus side, it's a solid way for people to start coming into the area. On the negative side, our closest neighbor is no where near us being relatively a few thousand blocks in any direction.
Never really realized how far out this place was from everyone else till then...
Either way, the station is set up, ready for the first line to run out this direction. Still need to make a path from the station to Calliope, but that shouldn't take too long. May work on that later after finishing this new journal entry.
As far as the status on the rest of the town, there is a small road that is forming around one section of the canyon below KhalÆophi, and I plan to start on the docks after I get tired of doing work on the dragon. With any luck, and if things continue at the rate they are, I might start posting up some properties for people to claim dockside within the next week or so.
Also, as one final note, I've started work on a few prototype buildings for the in-ocean parts of the dock within my boxel, as well as a few other prototype experiments that I'm starting to rather like, including a full pallet for various areas of the town. Rather liking how it's all coming together so far. May start working on the Gheo Paen in there as well then have it moved later. The only reason I don't entirely wish to do that just yet is because of the potential size of the ship. I worry I may need an admin to move it via copy/paste.
Eh...
Guess I'll worry about that when/if the time comes.
Update 23:29, 21 January 2012 (CST)
Not much of an update this time. Got the path work done between the MetroVox Station and the existing walking areas so that we're now connected to the station. Also did a bit more work to KhalÆophi. Not much of a noticeable difference to the dragon, but one none-the-less. The Gheo Paen hasn't been started yet and, due to a weird glitch with boxels, I lost the initial dock prototypes last weekend when my boxel was reassigned without me unregistering it. Dunno what happened there, but ce'la vie.
Going to start a new dockside prototype later today after I wake up (after midnight in the timezone I live in [EST] so it is technically tomorrow for me though the time for the wiki is CST and an hour behind me) and might see if I can get the lower torso and legs started on KhalÆophi.
Update 14:57, 23 January 2012 (CST)
Started work on the docks, most of the initial path work is done. This place is certainly shaping up to be an organicly shaped place.... Lotta curves here and there and most of the area fitting right into the mountain, as opposed to hanging from it.
First minor section finished today as well. What started off as being a fisherman warf type area where people can claim shops and stalls evolved into a small traveling show, complete with covered wagons (Thanks again uioz for the assistance earlier) a couple vendor stalls, a small flag, and a small stage. The whole troupe fitting very nicely in the small valley basin at the edge of the waterfall springs near where the port will be located.
Also tinkered quite a bit with ambient lighting throughout the whole town so far and, my GOD, does it look nice so far at nighttime. Has a bit of mystical quality to it at night. the whole town has an odd appeal to it so far that I just can't quite put into words...
Guess that's why we have screenshots :P
Below are a few shots of the town at night.
The dragon, for lack of a better way to put it, will take me a while, that's why I avoided most screens that would show it's full state at the moment. If you want to see how far I've gotten with it, you're gonna have to make your way out here yourself. I would like some critiques on it once I do get the torso and legs done though.
We've also finally gotten the go ahead for a connection to the shared metrovox station. By the look of things, we may be starting an entire metrovox boom on the far west continent. Can't say too much at the moment, but that's how things are situated at the current time.
That's all I really have to say for the moment... time to kick back a bit and enjoy a show :p.}
Update 23:04, 23 January 2012 (CST)
Huzzah... Thanks to finally being able to see two pro organics builders in action (GO WATCH KUPO and FEATHER NAO! they kick ASS when it comes to Organics.) I finally got off my rump and got KhalÆophi mostly done. His body, arms, legs, and tail are all done for now (SOMEONE, Preferably experienced with organics, Critique me please, Could really use it before I start the wings. It is located at -4796,4669 in TWW.) and all that really remains left to do is the wings.
The dock area is starting to form, though I really do wish Pangea was still open to visiting... Really wish I had taken closer looks at some of the major port towns like Citadel City, Adenbury (PLEASE Open the warp to here soon), Sealth, Cliffton, Panostia, Triana and others to see how they look and be inspired by them...
Ah well. Can't live in the past. Now would be the time to move forward, try new things, and build what is enjoyable. That's ultimately the point behind the map change, wasn't it? To get people to stop repeating the past and set forth into new builds and new worlds that are forged by the next generation of members, while still giving the elder groups a place where they can hone their skills and show the best that they can do and what new members can do too.
Probably getting way too philosophical and metaphorical in the meaning behind the map change... Meh, it's part of my nature.
Either way, hope to get more done soon, and perhaps finally get started on the Gheo Paen. With any luck, the town will be open for residents soon. All depends on how much time I get over the next few weeks.
Update 14:56, 25 January 2012 (CST)
After receiving some needed help from Dinnes and the litesniper Ducktapeman, KhalÆophi is Finished. Wings, tail, Coloring, EVERYTHING. He's done. With his completion, also comes the completion of the first of a few feature builds for Calliope Pointe. It's definitely a major milestone, but I can't rest now. There are some more paths to create, a port to finish, a fort to start, a boat to start, and some plots to lay out.
As a small side-note, after surveying the ocean around the town, I'm tempted to ask if there is a litesniper/sniper out there that is interested in doing some landscaping. I could use a few more cliffs and clifffaces around my area to give the town a place to grow toward. If I do decide to do that kind of an expansion, I will have to ask an admin at some point of the boarder wall can be painted a bit to make it look more appealing and not so... so... wallish..
Update 00:16, 27 January 2012 (CST)
The Bastion of Calliope has been started. It's not much at the moment and, to be honest, I don't think I will do anything as grand as I initially was, mostly due to lack of any real building space due to the verticality of the whole town (made up words ftw) and the constraints of the cliff faces. As far as it stands right now, it has a working portcullis gate. Tis a great achievement for me as well. First time doing a piston driven gate. Yes, I know VoxelGadget could probably do it just as well, but, this one, I know, will work offline as well as online and regardless of the server, which is a plus for me should I ever happen to head anywhere else.
There were some more roads layed out and lit up earlier as well, but, well, that seems to keep happening whenever I'm on. Tbh, I kinda felt a little burned out today after the major success of getting KhalÆophi finished. Spent the day walking around the server and working on some metrovox transit lines. Which reminds me, I've found a semi-better way to get out here that I plan to put in the infobox. It still has a long flight involved in it, but you're flying in from about 2-2.5 thousand blocks away instead of over 7-8 thousand blocks away. The majority of the route is across the fledgling metrovox network and has probably a few more stops then really needed, but, meh, at least it saves some flight time, right?
Update 08:38, 1 February 2012 (CST)
Update 20:46, 3 February 2012 (CST)
3 homes have now been put together and we have 2 ships in our harbor. One ship even works as a voxelport! We're getting a connection to Arpedua (Thanks again Gab and Gecko). The Orion is our connecting ship between our towns. The whole port is still being set up as I type this, but it's great to see that we'll have a much, much easier way to get to Calliope Pointe.
Also, in the next few days, I plan to get at least one-two more homes added to the cliffs for people to claim and open the town to everyone who wants to build here, providing they follow the same home design as the ones already set up.
Update 22:16, 7 February 2012 (CST)
Did some more work on the "Bastion of Calliope". Mostly just some exterior/entry plaza area. Also working on extending the docks a bit further north along the seaside edge of the town. Might add the area for a few more shops along that side too. Still debating on that expansion.
These update journals seem to keep coming slower and slower. Mostly because there isn't a whole lot to write about in my opinion, but, meh, guess it's better to mention something at the very least. Did get one nice surprise and got the town spotlight this week. I just hope between it and the video flyby I was able to quickly splice together, I'll have some more people settling out here.
As far as homes are concerned, I might try adding one a day at the least until we get people who want to build their own version of the home styles I've already set up.
